Tips on Cleaning Your Window Glass

Cleaning Window – Salt Lake City, UT – Central Glass CompanyOne of the most important aspects of a clean home or office is to ensure the windows sparkle without any stains or streaks. Not only do clean windows let in more natural light, but they also give the impression of a well-kept space. Discover tips on cleaning glass windows quickly and easily.

Clean on Cloudy Days

This may seem counterintuitive, but the best time of the day or weather to clean your windows is with a cloudy sky. A sunny day will provide adequate light to see all the spots, lint, and streaks that form after you clean your windows. However, light is not the only energy your windows will receive.

Sunny days generate heat that evaporates the cleaning water too fast. On cloudy days, those same UV rays become obscured. Thus, you can focus on your cleaning without any worry that pesky sunlight will ruin your chance to get spotless windows.

Invest in a Squeegee and Microfiber Cloth

Buy a squeegee and prioritize it over other tools when you wash your windows. A squeegee can remove excess water properly and ensure your window can dry with minimal stains and streaks. Also, keep your squeegee clean, and always replace the blades when they wear out.

Another hand tool to have is a microfiber cloth. Suppose the squeegee does not completely remove any water before it dries. In that case, your microfiber cloth will help you remove the stains.

Do not be tempted to use a paper towel. While a paper towel approach might remove stains, it leaves lint that reverses the effort you put into your windows. A microfiber cloth can solve the stain problem with an efficient and reusable cloth that you can always rely on.

Create Your Own Solution

Try to create your own washing solution rather than rely on retail alternatives. You can master some good mixing skills that will save you some extra bucks. Also, you can change your solution based on the results you get each time and alter it until you memorize the right percentage of ingredients.

For this solution, use distilled water rather than tap water. Distilled water does not have the salts and other contaminants that tap water does. Thus, you can remove an essential factor that leads to stained and streaked windows after washing.

Also, add some white vinegar and isopropyl alcohol to your solution. You can add your homemade recipe to a sprinkler bottle and refill it once empty. This way, you have a constant supply of ready window cleaner that can compete with retail alternatives.

Start From the Top

Start with the top panes and work your way to the bottom to ensure the dirt and grime you clean away washes without leaving any deposits. If you cannot reach the top, attach a sponge mop to a pole and clean the top panels. Then, use a squeegee with an extendable pole to dry the panes.

Change Directions

Shift the direction you sweep your cloth when you wash. You can mix circular motions with horizontal and vertical sweeps. You can avoid any streaks with this mixture of motions.

Use an Eraser to Remove Streaks

Inspect your windows after a few minutes to see if any stains form after cleaning. If you spot any stains, use a clean whiteboard eraser to remove them.

Consider high-quality glass for your home if you want to replace your windows or install new ones. Combined with the care you provide, a trusted glass merchant can help you maintain the lifespan of your glass with a proper installation. What Our Clients Say

Hidden Gem

I had 2 windshields replaced on my previous car at a different glass company. I went back there and got an estimate for this windshield but thought I would get a second estimate from Central Glass. I am sure glad as it saved me over $140. This is now my glass company of choice.
